Privacy Policy

This policy applies to Athon - Orthodox Bible, Seraphim, athonapp.com, and related services operated by PRODUCT TECH S.R.L.

1. Who we are

PRODUCT TECH S.R.L. ("Athon", "we", "our", or "us") is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. We are based in Bucharest, Romania.

2. Data we collect

Depending on the features you use, Athon may collect:

• Account and profile data: name, email address, sign-in provider and Athon user identifiers, avatar, profile details, app language, calendar preference, timezone, country code, patron-saint selection, Orthodox journey status, and parish membership or profile information.
• User content: prayer requests and testimonies, custom prayers, journal entries, commemorations, Bible notes and highlights, chat prompts, community posts and messages, parish requests, booking notes, and other content that you choose to submit or sync.
• Activity and preferences: Bible and prayer progress, bookmarks, reading and listening activity, app interactions, searches, notification responses, streaks, feature usage, and related settings.
• Photos: profile or member photos and optional images submitted for parish features.
• Location: approximate location derived from an IP address and, only when you grant permission or request a nearby-place feature, precise location used to find churches or parishes near you.
• Purchase data: subscription status, entitlement information, and purchase history. Your app marketplace or payment provider processes payment credentials; Athon does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
• Device, analytics, and diagnostics data: advertising or device identifiers, app-install and referral information, push-notification identifiers, IP address, device and operating-system details, app version, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data.

3. How we use data

We use this data to:

• provide accounts, cloud sync, purchases, notifications, and requested features;
• personalize content, language, calendar, progress, and community experiences;
• operate chat, prayer, parish, journal, Bible, audio, and location features;
• measure installs, engagement, and campaign performance;
• diagnose crashes, improve performance, prevent fraud, and protect our services;
• manage subscriptions, customer support, legal obligations, and accounting.

4. Optional features and permissions

You can use core portions of Athon without creating an account. Account creation, precise location, notifications, profile photos, community participation, and other submissions are optional. You can deny or revoke device permissions in Android or iOS settings. Some functionality will be unavailable when its required permission or data is not provided. Essential SDK telemetry and identifiers used for app operation, analytics, security, attribution, subscriptions, and push delivery may be collected automatically while you use the app.

5. Service providers

We use service providers to process data on our behalf and provide Athon. Depending on the features you use, these providers may include infrastructure and hosting providers; identity and app-distribution services; subscription and payment processors; communications and notification services; analytics and attribution services; security, diagnostics, and performance-monitoring providers; and mapping and location services.

These providers process data under their applicable terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal data and do not allow unrelated third parties to use Athon user data for their own purposes. Data may be processed in countries outside your own, with appropriate contractual and legal safeguards where required.

6. Community funding and payments

A third-party payment provider processes contribution and recurring-payment details for Build Athon Together. Athon does not store full card numbers or card security codes. We retain the information needed to create and reconcile checkout, maintain accounting and consent records, moderate optional messages, manage recurring support, prevent abuse, and calculate public totals from verified payment events.

A supporter's name or message appears publicly only after a successful contribution and the relevant choice or consent. Public pages do not show an email address, payment identifier, exact contribution amount, or country.

7. Campaign analytics

The funding page asks before recording campaign analytics. If allowed, it uses a random browser-session identifier and sends allowlisted actions such as page views, CTA clicks, selected contribution bands, checkout starts, sharing, or update opens. Names, email addresses, messages, card data, and payment-provider identifiers are not included. You can continue without campaign analytics or change the choice on the funding page.

8. Retention and security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data. We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes described above, normal backup cycles, security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, and applicable legal requirements. Aggregated or de-identified analytics may be retained when it can no longer be linked to an identifiable account.

9. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of your personal data. You may delete an Athon account in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Full instructions and retention details are available on the Athon account-deletion page.
