Born in Cappadocia and baptized by Saint Arsenios, Paisios served in the military before embracing the monastic life. On Mount Athos he labored in silence, carving wooden crosses and praying constantly for the world.
His fame spread because he listened deeply to every pilgrim, offering tailor-made spiritual prescriptions and prophetic clarity. He stressed gratitude, patience in trials, and love for the Mother of God.
After his repose in 1994, miracles and healings multiplied at his grave in Souroti. His sayings invite Orthodox Christians to replace anxiety with trust and to serve others with quiet joy.

The offspring of Farasa, and the adornment of Athos, the imitator of the virtues of the Venerable and God-bearing Fathers, we honor you, O Paisios; intercede with Christ our God to grant us great mercy.

The vessel of grace and the most radiant luminary of the Church, the newly-shining star, Paisios, let us praise with hymns as he teaches us to cry: Glory to Him Who has strengthened you; glory to Him Who has crowned you; glory to Him Who through you grants healings to all.
