Bible Verses on Paschal Joy
Pray these readings during the Paschal Vigil, Agape Vespers, or family meals in Bright Week. Each verse connects to a hymn or icon so the Resurrection remains the center of parish life.
#1 — Psalm 117(118):24
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Repeated throughout the Paschal services as the triumphal refrain of the Resurrection.
#2 — Isaiah 60:1
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”
#3 — Mark 16:6
““He has risen; He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.””
#4 — Luke 24:32
““Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked to us on the road?””
#5 — John 20:19
“Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.””
#6 — 1 Corinthians 15:20
“Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
After reading each verse, respond aloud with “Christ is risen!” to seal the proclamation in the heart. Keep the Paschal troparion playing softly to frame the meditation.
Liturgical connection: Use at Paschal picnics, home blessings during Bright Week, or as part of catechumen follow-up gatherings.
