Born in 1846 in Thrace, Saint Nektarios rose from poverty through diligent study and prayer, eventually serving as Metropolitan of Pentapolis in Egypt. Despite false accusations and exile, he refused bitterness, continuing to preach Christ with meekness and gratitude.
After founding the Holy Trinity Monastery on Aegina, he became a spiritual father to monastics, clergy, and laity seeking counsel. Miracles of healing began during his lifetime and multiplied after his repose, revealing the grace that accompanied his hidden life.
Saint Nektarios authored hymns to the Theotokos and pastoral writings that guide the faithful today. His quiet witness assures modern Orthodox Christians that holiness flourishes even amid injustice and misunderstanding.

O faithful, let us honor Nektarios, the offspring of Selybria, the guardian of Aegina, the true friend of virtue, who appeared in the latter years, a true servant of Christ, a vessel of grace, whom we now honor as a God-bearing wonderworker.

In joy of heart let us hymn the newly-appeared star of the Church, the wise hierarch Nektarios, for he poured forth the sweet myrrh of healings upon those in sorrow and leads all to cry out: Rejoice, O father, boast of the faithful.
